Men Leading for Change

Domestic abuse unfortunately affects all parts of society and our work focuses specifically on raising awareness in the Muslim community. Our unique Men Leading for Change project develops Muslim male leadership to combat domestic abuse and violence.

In partnership with Nottingham City Council and Equation, we have delivered workshops on healthy relationships aimed at women and boys, trained male community leaders and created a toolkit to guide imams who come into contact with abuse survivors.

This project is funded by Nottingham Police Crime Commissioner. It’s a flagship programme which has allowed the Network to begin difficult conversations with different members of the Muslim community. Healthy relationship workshops were designed and delivered to Muslim women in Arabic and Urdu as well as English. The project also introduced an important area of work, promoting healthy relationships and positive views of women with young Muslim boys.
