Domestic Violence Support

We provide professional support for Muslim women, girls that experience Domestic violence in Nottingham. Domestic Violence is the systematic pattern of behaviour on the part of the abuser designed to control his partner. Anyone forced to alter their behaviour because they are frightened of their partner’s reaction is being abused. It can begin at any stage of the relationship. Domestic violence is rarely a one-off. Incidents generally become more frequent and severe over time.

Domestic abuse can include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Psychological/emotional abuse
  • Physical/sexual abuse
  • Financial/economical abuse
  • Harassment and stalking
  • Online/digital abuse

Our Support Workers provide expert guidance for women at the highest risk of injury and harm of all forms of violence and for those women who are going through the civil and criminal courts. Providing ongoing support and advice with reports to police, statements, attending court safely or testify against the perpetrator.

We work with a network of providers and professionals supporting with providing emergency temporary accommodation for women and children fleeing abuse. They give women time and space to make decisions about their futures and provide culturally sensitive one-to-one emotional and practical support.

Women from minority ethnic groups may face additional barriers to accessing support due to discrimination, language needs or immigration status. Our expert staff speak several languages and provide culturally-specific services for Muslim Women and girls.
